I am a consultant clinical psychologist with over twenty years of experience working with adults and young people, individually and in couples and families, in the NHS and private practice.
I work to help clients overcome difficulties with psychological wellbeing so as to be able to live a more fulfilled life. I enable clients to develop a better and more in-depth understanding of their emotions and behaviours, and help them to develop strategies to manage difficult or uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, and to change undesirable patterns of behaviour.
I work with clients experiencing a wide range of symptoms, including those of anxiety, depression, stress/burnout, emotional dysregulation, post-traumatic stress, addiction, adjustment to loss and change, and managing relationships and parenting. I also have particular expertise in working with people living with acute or chronic health conditions, including somatoform disorders such as chronic fatigue and persistent pain.
In addition to psychological therapy I provide coaching with a psychological perspective aimed at empowering individuals who may be facing challenges such as self-doubt, imposter syndrome, grappling with career decisions or difficulty achieving work/life balance.
I am highly qualified with an honours degree in Experimental Psychology (BSc Hons), a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) and extensive additional training, in evidence-based psychotherapies: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also qualified as a Fitness Instructor (Level 2), recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
